This is an edit of a photo taken by MorningPrint, previously one of my favorite printers, of 85% Cyan as shown in a Pantone process book (”85” color chip) and that of a recent print job (the middle color). They feel that this is a reasonable color shift because they are a gang run printer.
The base CMYK inks are sacrosanct, we can’t even attempt to calibrate if they can’t get any closer than this. I have two print jobs that have to be redone because this discrepancy has made them illegible (both with the same Cyan shade).
